Getting to know your Klahoose Health Care Provider
Barb Vosper – Registered Nurse
For the past seven years, Barb has provided outstanding care to members of the Klahoose Nation. She brings with her over 46 years of experience that include work on medical/surgical wards and intensive care and coronary care units in West Vancouver, Victoria and Campbell River.
Wanting to spend more time with her young children, Barb opted out of the 12 hour shifts and worked in the lab at Campbell River Hospital doing blood work and running the Morgue. She assisted with autopsies and also retrieved eyes for the Eye Bank of BC. After her children were older she worked as a Case Manager for Long Term Care and was the Regional Facility Access Coordinator which entailed managing all the long term care beds in the North island from Royston north to Port Hardy. She was responsible for re writing the criteria for eligibility into our Long Term Care facilities and took the criteria from the South Island and adapted it to our resources and practices in the North. Barb also sat on an advisory board for Port Hardy to discuss issues that would arise with placements and family crises and was the designated agent for approximately three years investigating elder abuse in the North Island. For last 27 years Barb has practiced on Cortes, Quadra and Campbell river as a Foot Care Nurse and did home support supervising and case management here on Cortes.
Barb works tirelessly to bring health care programs to the community. Be sure to pop into the Health Care Centre to learn about the latests programs and services being offered.
